Xbox gameplay update

So, I have been away for a couple of months following a run of 10 daily posts.  Things just got in the way and when I thought of posting, I just didn’t to be honest.

Haven’t really streamed either, just can’t get going with that, just need to get some time to plug in and stream.  No camera so it will simply be me getting respawned a lot.

Anyway, what I generally set out to do I have accomplished or am slowly working towards.  Shadow of the Tomb Raider playthrough continues, and things are progressing well.  Game time is now shared as predicted with The Division 2.

I have been picking a few more games over the last couple of months.  As one does, place them in the to be played pile.

Final Fantasy 7 as mentioned previously popping up in the store was an instant purchase, haven’t played it yet, but I will get to it.

I haven’t played Overwatch for a while, and I have tried Apex Legends where I have so far managed 0 kills.  But haven’t exactly played for hours.

Battlefield 5 progress is good, completed the war Stories and just starting to play a few rounds of multiplayer.

I have had to rearrange the furniture a little as the Xbox One X kept turning off due to getting a little warm.

Forza 7 and Horizon 4 are still getting some hours when I fancy a drive, keep thinking of getting a wheel for when playing these.  So I am currently looking at options.

Regarding quests for Game Pass games, I haven’t really had a chance to look into these.  Because I’m concentrating more on the games above, but this month I fancy attempting a couple a seeing how they go.

See you around.

This weeks adventures

I am still getting to grips with this, and those few words might start a few of these posts.  What should improve is the content that flows after.

A reasonable amount of uninterrupted gameplay was enjoyed over the weekend with the occasional pop heard.

Thinking of changing my Xbox profile colour from Red, I’ve had that for a few years now and I think it’s time to look at options.

MisguidedSumo

Still haven’t started Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but if you’ve read any of my previous blogs then you’ll see that I have been hopping back and forth with planned games and played games that I didn’t intend and unlocked achievements I didn’t expect so all good.

In the last 2 days, I’ve unlocked 15 achievements in 9 games so the tidy up is going rather well I think and my percentage is moving in the right direction.  I think I have enough of a cushion to start a new game and not drop to far back the other way.

I am going to restart Call of Duty Black Ops soon, just so I can complete it and know how the game plays through.  Then, I will spend the time doing it on Veteran.

Over the weekend I went to look at my saved progress on Halo Master Chief Collection and noticed that it wasn’t there?  So before I play again (happy to) I will be checking achievement unlocks to see which Spartan op is the next one that I need to do.

Once I have finished those, I plan on finally starting on the cross game playlist achievements.  Theres a few others that should be finished off whilst completing these as well.

On the side, I am compiling the wish list for 2019 as the games start coming out.  There are a few I have my eye on and so look forward to spending time playing this year, having spent 2018 catching up on The Division, I am looking for ward to The Division 2.  Anything in particular that you are keeping an eye out for?  Let me know.

Surprise achievement unlocks

Occasionally as you know games have updates released, which have new achievements added to be unlocked.  What I always find a welcome suprise is when simply loading the game makes things go a little popping mad due to the achievement criteria already been reached.

Gears of War 4

This was a few months ago now, but it was still funny when it happened.

This obviously doesn’t mean that I don’t spend time playing the game, sometimes it is the way I find out about the update.

There are a number of achievements that I am waiting to unlock, and some of this I believe is down to the fact that I spend a lot of time jumping between 2 consoles and the save files have trouble syncing occassionally.

One such pop happened last night whilst I was checking out the last update for Rocket league.

Stocked Achievement

As soon as the game was loading I turned and heard a pop.  It must have just been stuck unlocking and having not played for a couple of months helped 🙂

I might need to install and load a few more games like this to see if anything else pops.  If not then It is always good to have a playthrough on a classic.  I was having a little play on Age of Booty earlier, just for a few minutes to have a bit of a laugh.

Well, off to try and earn a few more before the weekend is over.  Closing in on a couple of goals that I have set myself.

Richard

The weekend so far…

So plans were made, games to play were mentioned. Not sure what happened but that is what happens. the main thing is progress towards a goal and that is how the weekend is shaping.

It hasn’t been a massive trolling haul, as I have been playing the games but so far I have earned 7 achievements across 5 games. But the night is still young.

The most impressive stat is when there is just a laughable amount of time between achievements earned, but again, as I’ve mentioned on previous posts. Sometimes I just stop playing for a little while and then go back.

pac-man_achievements

Don’t know why I put Pac-Man down for 13 years? But doesn’t time fly, and this is not uncommon with me and it is also not always my fault.  I shall explain further in a future post.

Games that I have earned achievements in so far today are; Forza Motorsport 7, Pac-Man (xbox 360) Battlefield 5, Assassin’s Creed Revelations (xbox 360) and Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2.

So a couple there that weren’t originally on the playlist yet somehow worked there way in to my agenda. But at the same time it ultimately knocked a handful off the hundreds that I am working towards, and I have been meaning to sit down and play Assassin’s Creed Revelations for about a year now.

I have also as mentioned begun tweaking the look of the site here and so if you’ve been here before or if your first time, let me know what you think.  I am thinking of upping the plan that I currently have, but I will see how things go first.  Before I start over customising.

Later tonight I will probably continue on with Assassin’s for a little to get myself into that story. Then moving on to something a little lighter, and if anything pops then that is just a bonus.

If I can earn at least a total of 10 achievements today, without stating a new game then it has been a reletively constructive day so far.  But I believe that I can get slightly more than that to pop and so we’ll see.

All good now, xbox weekend ahead

Ok, before we start, I know I have been on about something a little and sorry about that,  I will add nothing more.

ow_achievement

All that telling myself to play helped 🙂

Anyway, as I sit here I have the next Insider update (18323) downloading so that could keep the me occupied for a few hours.

I keep changing plans of what I want to play this weekend, I know I want to try the mode I now have access to on Overwatch, but I think I am more in the mood for a little driving simulation on Forza, either Motorsport 7 or Hoirzon 4.  Then continuing on with Battlefield 5.  That is probably Saturday sorted.

Then Sunday will be when I start Shadow of the Tomb Raider, been meaing to for about  a week now, just been a little single focused on the above.

I might even get in a couple of games on Fifa 19 just to stretch the fingers a little.

My aim is to try the AverMedia config again and so you may see some strange person lookng away from the camera if you come across my Mixer channel.  But then from what

I have seen, that on a few channels at times.  As mentioned in a previous post, I have plans for he final few days of the month and will be checking come the end of Sunday if any king of progress has been made towards the next milestone or if I have instead started sliding backwards again due to starting new games.

There are a few games that I picked up recently in the xbox store sales that I am yet to play and so this will happen, I am just trying to build a gap before adding them to my played list.

Bioshock for example is a series that I had never played, so picked up the pack and am currently on the 1st of the series.  Please, no spoilers 🙂

As the notifications are informing me, I am on a bit of a streak here on WordPress and so I must be settling in.  If things look a little bizarre over the weekend then do let me know as I do plan to brighten the place up a bit.

Well, going to let the laptop finish updating now and start the weekend acievement hunt.  Maybe I’ll unitentionally ignore you online.

Richard

Misguided Fun

Ok, so I didn’t know what to call this one at the start of writting this but then sometimes the title comes at the end?

Really, you should have a subject to write right?

So anyway, let’s just wing it.  So far this week I have composed a few blogs piecing together memories past and current gamplay to name a couple of things.

What I am starting to put together (I hope) is a a little look into my likes, dislikes, setup gameplay etc.

As mentioned, if you have any points or queries on anything that you see or read then let me know and I will see what I can do.

I have ambition to get my gameplay hours going a little better this year to enable me to reachthe targets mentioned in previous posts.  And repeated last years stats.

2018 xbox stats

I spent a number of hours playing Tom Clancy’s The Division in 2018, after I found it on xbox Game Pass.  Still need to do some more to complete it off in parts.

But tonight and for the foreseeable time my focus is crawling towards level 25 on Overwatch, so close now that it seems to be taking longer.  The fact I haven’t played yet today hasn’t helped.

I think that I am getting so focused on that that I may forget my other goals sometimes and so that is also why i am giving myself these little reminders.

I’ll see if I can get over the line tonight and reach the target.

Richard

Still settling in – but xbox play more the priority

Evening, still getting used to this and amazed that I get these little prompts from WordPress about streaks?  What are these if not Achievement earning related, am I giving up game time to compose a small note here?

xo_pse

I haven’t had a chance to turn the xbox on for a couple of days admittedly due to other things getting in the way, but I’ll be on Overwatch as soon as this is published to ensure I continue crawling towards that goal.

It will also give me the chance to see if any updates have installed during the past 2 days.

Following yesterdays blog post, I started compiling what I want to ensure that I dedicate time to in February, we can look into that further later.

I have essentially had as much of an unplug as I allow myself, allow the xbox to cool down for a few hours before setting up a some sessions to get things cleared.

I need to have a look over the options at the weekend and maybe give the blog a bit of a better look, as I haven’t really had the chance to play with that yet.

Let me know what you think.

I will stream often, so follow me on Mixer the support is appreciated.  Eventually I’ll pick up a headset and join the chat.  Nothing personal, just haven’t replaced one that just broke due to age and wear a while ago and got used to playing without it.  But I normally have the chat box open.

Do suggest games, I am always on the look out for somethig to play, my favourites are pick up and play’s and that is whay I actually love the “xbox acarde” games from the 360 days, Trials HD was great for a quick couple of minutes if that’s all you had.  And I can still play it as backwards compatible.

Well, off to play Overwatch.

Richard

Gaming plans – end of January 2019

Hi, just planning what I want to spend time on as we approach the final part on the month.

Firstly, I aim to reach level 25 on Overwatch, it’s not that I am slow, I could do it quicker, I just don’t live on it.  Should reach that little target this week.

There is some tidying up to do on Mass Effect Andromeda, so I will keep playing that.  Or now that I have finished, I may start a new playthough and try and do it a little more complete.

I am just getting started really on Forza Horizon 4 and progress is good, at the same time I hop over to Forza Motorsport 7 and complete a few races.

Really need to get past my roadblock on Call of Duty Black Ops (1), I picked it up again now it’s backward compatible and have been playing on Veteran to contiue my old path, but have never gotten past a certain point, try try again.

At some point I will be sitting down and really starting to play Grand Theft Auto 5, I hear it’s good?

On top of this I have just started playing Titanfall again, really is a great pick up and play game.

Moving into February I aim to get back on Halo Master Chief Collection and complete the Spartan Ops missions.

The Achievement hunting session continues.

Maybe I will see a few people online.

My story so far…

I was sitting here earlier, putting together a brief summary piece for the About page.  When the this became a little than really required, I decided to simply delete the lot.  Quick paragraph, which can be edited later.  And then after a little Human Fall Flat and Overwatch I ended up here.

What I had started composing was a piece about what I have played, consoles etc.  It just got a little long.  And so I thought I would share a little more.

My gameplay memories start with the classics, Pong, Paperboy but a number of hours were spent on games like Chuckie Egg and Repton 2 pre console.

We did not have a NES or SNES so I didn’t get hours of Mario growing up, like most children though, I was aware of the plumber and a friend had a SNES when they came out and occasional after school sessions of Mario Kart were enough to hook anyone to the series for life.  We did pick up a few consoles from Nintendo when we started doing the purchasing.

Console wise we started with the SEGA Master System, and I dedicated many hours to Alex Kidd in Miracle World until Sonic the Hedgehog came along.  So many games were played on the Master System it is hard to keep track (I was young).

When the Mega Drive came out we added that to the console collection.  Games like Streets of Rage, Desert Strike, Sensible Soccer all getting hours of game play.

Then came the PS1 and I remember having a game Tunnel B1, spent hours trying to figure that out.  But I think I wasn’t the only person that lost a few weeks to Dual Shock controllers and Gran Turismo when they were released.

I also remember getting a card from Game, inviting me to preorder a game soon to be released.  It was from a series I had never heard of and it was the 7th in that series.  Looking at the pictures on the card I gave it a try, and the number of years I have lost to Final Fantasy 7, are well, I am playing catch up with some others.

The first console that I purchased was the SEGA Game Gear, I picked it up on a holiday to Florida.  My brother had a Nintendo Gameboy, so Tetris got a few hours play.  I picked up the Nintendo 64, got the obligatory selection of games.  Had a Gamecube too.

Then went a little SONY way and the PS2 was the console of choice for a few years, GTA has come along way from the early days.  But generally there was a great selection of games.

Now, the choice to define a generation.  Xbox came out, I queued at midnight, carried it home and then sat until I don’t know when playing Halo.  This was me, settled, just how I liked it, the games coming out just started to edge my PS2 into the corner.  And eventually it was traded in for games.

I owned 1 original xbox, I think we all had numerous 360’s, not necessarily due to issues.  Hard Disk introduction, I really never could understand the Arcade version.

We purchased a Wii and had fun bowling, then the Kinect came out.  Now I enjoyed the Kinect, Kinect Adventures etc on the 360 was fun.  What I didn’t enjoy was when they tried to build it into games when it really wasn’t needed.  When I was happily running along on Halo Anniversary and my son shouts “Grenade” so Master Chief obliges and throws, suddenly I have none and really could use 1.

xbox controllers

Now that we are into Xbox One and moved on to the X, I have got the room set up as is required to experience the games as designed.  4K TV, and Dolby Atmos Home Theatre, some games really make look outside because you wonder what the noise is.

what is the first game you remember playing?

Richard

Weekend Play

Hi, you will probably have seen that some of my stream titles on Mixer have the simple title “weekend play”.  These sessions are exactly what they say, although the Achievement popping that goes with them is the added bonus.  So maybe I should change the title to “weekend achievement session”?

But, as you know, some of can take a little longer and more gameplay than others and so general play is requiered to reach the goal.

Last night I was streaming when I had the “Point Leader” Achievement pop on NHL 15, another one of those that I have been slowly working towards over recent weeks.  It’s a game I noticed I only had 1 achievement on and so I aquired it from the EA Access Vault and am now raising my completion of the game.

Another game that I am working through from the Vault is Star Wars Battlefront, so seeing what I can pick up there.  Though not many people for Multiplayer?

So far this weekend I have been spending the hours on a number of different games as well as ensuring that my Laptop is up to date with insider builds.

alienware laptop

My Alienware has been with me since 2013 and is still doing well, upped the memory to 24Gb, and changed from Windows 8 to Windows 10.  But as mentioned on my previous post, I do think that there are minor issues that need addressing in terms of ability for streaming.

Anyway, back to weekend play, I am nearing another milestone in the world of Achievement collection.

See you online.
